The senior year is exciting and this year is no exception. With spring being here, a review of tasks for seniors is in order. Following is a list of tasks for seniors. Many seniors have already completed these. Students who have not finished can still complete the process even if early deadlines have passed. 1. Apply to college / training program. 2. Apply for scholarships at the college to which you applied. 3. Apply for scholarships listed on the counselor’s list. 4. Apply for housing on campus if needed. 5. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). 6. Continue to do well in high school classes so you can graduate. Mrs. Becker has compiled an updated list of scholarships, which will be available in school this week. It can also be found on a link on the counselor’s webpage, which is part of the New Salem Almont High School’s webpage. One scholarship that is on the list is the North Dakota Academic Scholarship; this is a new scholarship made available by the most recent ND Legislative Session. For 2010 graduates, the only requirements are to score a 24 or higher on the ACT and to complete the application online. The application has only recently become available. Seniors who qualify, please stop to get information from the counselor, Mrs. Becker about how to apply. Important date for Juniors April 28, 2010 – juniors will take the ACT test at New Salem Almont High School. There is no charge for juniors to take the ACT at school.
