The 2009 North Dakota State Legislature has provided for 2 new state scholarships. These are the North Dakota Academic Scholarship and the North Dakota Career and Technical Education Scholarship. Each scholarship provides for $ 1,500 per year renewable for up to 4 years for a total of $ 6,000. Below are the requirements for the new scholarships. The scholarship requirements are different for this year’s seniors than for graduates from the following years. 2010 Graduates North Dakota Academic Scholarship eligibility requirements are: 1. Graduate from a North Dakota High School or in a bordering state according to provisions set forth in ND Century Code 15.1-29 2. Certification from DPI that the student received a composite score of at least a 24 on the ACT (Student pays for test). North Dakota Career and Technical Education Scholarship eligibility requirements are: 1. Graduate from a North Dakota High School or in a bordering state according to provisions set forth in ND Century Code 15.1-29 2. Certification from DPI that the student received a composite score of at least a 24 on the ACT or a score of 5 on each of three WorkKeys assessments (Locating Information, Reading for Information, and Applied Mathematics) (Student pays for tests). 2011 Graduates and Beyond North Dakota Academic Scholarship requirements include the following requirements: 1. North Dakota resident 2. Graduate from a North Dakota High School 3. Complete Diploma requirements: see the counselor’s bulletin board for requirements 4. Complete the following requirements: A. Algebra II B. 1 math unit above Algebra II C. 2 units of the same foreign language D. 1 unit of fine arts or career & technical education E. 1 unit of a foreign language or Native American language, fine arts or career and technical education 5. Obtain at least a C in each course 6. Obtain a cumulative grade point average of at least a “B” 7. ACT composite score of 24 or higher 8. Complete 1 unit of an AP course and examination or a ˝ unit dual credit course. North Dakota Career and Technical Education Scholarship eligibility requirements are: 1. North Dakota resident 2. Graduate from a North Dakota High School 3. Complete Diploma requirements: see the Counselor’s Bulletin Board for requirements 4. Complete the following requirements: A. Algebra II B. 2 units of a coordinated plan of study recommended by the Department of Career and Technical Education. The coordinated plans of study can be viewed at: http://www.nd.gov/cte/programs/career-dev/plans-of-study.html C. 3 additional units, 2 of which must be in the area of career and technical education 5. Obtain at least a C in each course 6. Obtain a cumulative grade point average of at least a “B” 7. ACT composite score of 24 or higher or at least a “5” on each of 3 WorkKeys assessments to include Reading for Information, Locating Information, and Applied Mathematics.
